Ian Bracegirdle has an extensive record of artistic achievement spanning over thirty years. He is the founding director of Mothers Art Productions Pty. Ltd and now the sole director of Motherworks Pty Ltd.  Ian was also instrumental in the founding of Einstein’s Octopus in London and is founding co-director of Mothers Art TV,  combining specialist fabrication and art direction for Film, T.V and still photography. 

 After studying an undergraduate fine art diploma at Caulfield Institute of Technology (now Monash) and  postgraduate diploma in sculpture at the Victorian College of the Arts, Ian has continued his and successful career as a studio artist exhibiting regularly since 1978. 

 

Ian’s involvement at a senior creative and managerial on recent projects of note include design and fabrication for the National Museum of Australia, The National War Memorial and various projects for Museum Victoria. The many zoo projects over the last twenty years include Auckland Zoo's Indigenous precinct, Te Wao Nui, The Perth Zoo Orangutan Boardwalk experience.  Ian was appointed as  designer for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth games opening river event which saw the birth of the now famous aquatic creatures that were the centre point of the opening ceremony.

 

  • Board memberships include: Back to Back Theatre in Geelong, an internationally respected company with an ensemble largely made up of actors with perceived disabilities.
  • A committee member with Artists for Kids Culture in 2015
  • A founding member and performer with Open house Ensemble who have been invited to the Palestine Choral festival in 2016
  • A performer with The Footscray Gypsy Orchestra, and the Brunswick Old time String Orchestra.
